The Herd. CULT OF THE DEAD COW (cDc) was founded in Lubbock, Texas in 1984 and has an international membership. The App. Goolag Scanner is a Web auditing tool that enables users to scan their web sites for vulnerabilities via the Google search engine. It has been bouncing around the cDc internally for the past three years and is being released to the public in February 2008. The scanner is based on "Google hacking" techniques developed by Johnny Long, aka, Johnny I Hack Stuff. The Developers. Goolag Scanner was invented by The Mixter and programmed by Krass Katt. The Brand. Goolag is a play on the Russian word Gulag and was originally used by the cDc to protest Google's collusion with the Peoples Republic of China to censor the Internet. The Scans. Goolag Scanner test partners scanned government and military networks in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia prior to release. This data will not be released to the public but has been shared with a number of security researchers, NGOs, and journalists. Some Web site vulnerabilities discovered in the United States were forwarded to the Department of Homeland Security through the cDc's attorney. The End. CULT OF THE DEAD COW is not accepting any new members. Go away.
